Private lessons are what Prashamana Yoga is really all about.  Based on the practice of "Viniyoga", an approach to yoga that adapts to the unique conditions, needs and interests of each individual -private sessions allow us to work together to individualize and actualize the process of self-discovery and personal transformation. This requires and understanding of your present condition, personal potential and working together to set appropriate goals.  *If you are not in my local area, we can still work together!  If you have access to the internet, we can use free online software to meet and I can send you private videos made just for you with your own individualized instruction for your yoga practice.   Alternatively, I can help you find someone in your local area to work with. 

 

Private lessons are a great way to learn the fundamentals of yoga for beginners and to expand your practice for experienced yogis and yoginis. Sessions are tailored to your individual needs and interests.  You will leave your private lesson with a customized sequence of postures to practice at home or at your next session.  We will also recommend small group classes or workshops that would be suitable for you.

Beginners: Whether you are an absolute beginner, or simply getting the hang of things, a private one-on-one session can help you to understand the fundamentals of yoga.  Possible areas of focus include: Breathing, Body Alignment and Postures (Asanas).

Expand your Practice: Looking to deepen your practice?  A private session can help you take your practice to new heights.  Take your favourite poses and go deeper or expand your horizons and find new twists on some familiar asanas.

Individualized Attention: If you are looking for some individualized attention to accommodate an injury (a customized class that supports your limitations), to expand your practice or to start a new journey to health and wellness, a private session can be the perfect solution.  A customized class can include modified postures specifically designed for your needs, health and wellness coaching, pranayama breath work, meditation and  referrals for holistic nutrition counseling.

  • Rise & Shine Yoga Class:

Start your day off right with yoga!  Enjoy a lovely heart-felt yoga practice with a focus on proper alignment throughout the practice. The class ends with a 15 minute guided meditation.  Leave the class each week feeling refreshed and revitalized, giving you more energy to share with those you love.  ♥  Book your morning yoga session today!   • Gentle Yoga

This class is ideal for older adults. This entire gentle yoga class, including relaxation is taught with participants sitting in chairs and may include the use of some props (bolsters or blocks)  in an effort to enhance the experience of movement. Relaxation, breathing, and meditation are also an integral part of this class.  The benefits of a chair yoga class for older adults are numerous and include:  Increased flexibility, strength and concentration.  The chair is used to support the student and provide a safe yoga experience. 
 
 
  • Yin Yoga

The practice of yin yoga is an intensive stretch perfect for athletes and those who wish to target the deep connective tissues, ligaments and joints.  While initially this style of yoga can seem quite passive, or soft, yin practice can be quite challenging due to the long duration of the poses. Focusing on long-held floor poses combined with breath work and meditation, yin yoga goes beneath the superficial muscles to target the dense connective tissues of the body – often in the hips, pelvis, and low back – which are difficult to open and can result in both limited flexibility and stagnant energy.  This deep practice is gentle, yet intense, helping students not only to open the body, but also to cultivate the ability to observe and stay with sensation. Pranayama & Meditation Classes

Yoga is more than just the poses.  In fact the asanas (yoga postures) are only one of 8 limbs of yoga as described by Pantanjali.  Come and experience the benefits and practice of Pranayama (Breathing exercises) and Meditation in this lovely class.   You will experience deep relaxation and a greater sense of well-being and nourishment for the whole self -body, mind and spirit.

Yoga has many benefits for children including:

  • enhanced concentration -your child learns how to sit still in one place and focus on what’s important as opposed to letting their mind wander and be distracted easily. This helps them in  at school, boosts their attention span and improves their grades.

  • increased self-confidence and mental health -kids also experience stress and can benefit from the stress-relieving practices of using their breath to bring inner calm and peace

If your child is having difficulty with behaviour at home or school, difficulty concentrating, difficulty with conflict resolution and problem solving, yoga is a wonderful practice.  Children have stress too!  Yoga teaches a child how to handle their feelings and emotions -both good and bad.  This is not something which is generally taught to children and is HIGHLY BENEFICIAL!  

For children with special needs and their families, we may recommend one of the following: yoga class, private yoga class, yoga therapy or private yoga class as a family (parents and siblings participate too!).  Yoga for mothers and daughters together for tweens and teens is a wonderful way to bond with your daughter!
